Above: the fires as seen from our church property the morning of October 9

The Spirit of the Sovereign Lord is on me...
to comfort all who mourn,
and provide for those who grieve in Zion—
to bestow on them a crown of beauty
instead of ashes,
the oil of joy
instead of mourning,
and a garment of praise
instead of a spirit of despair.
They will be called oaks of righteousness,
a planting of the Lord
for the display of his splendor.

They will rebuild the ancient ruins

On Monday October 9, wind-swept fires ravaged our community, particularly Mark West and north Santa Rosa. About half the members of our church were evacuated, and some took shelter in the church building for the first few days until smoke conditions forced us to move. As the fires continued in the coming days and weeks, members of our church were displaced or lost homes, and many more friends, neighbors, and coworkers were impacted similarly.

We had five households who were members of our church that lost their homes in the Tubbs Fire. We have been able to provide them all with financial assistance through our Benevolence ministry. We also are working to assist other families who have a connection with our church.

Working with our bigger family of churches in the Central Pacific District, we will continue to assist the families in and around our church with needs in the recovery process. We've been able to partner with our local Alliance churches to find families to help through an Adopt-A-Family program. Other churches out of the area, are being organized by our friends at House SF to adopt families in need. If you'd like to adopt a family, email House SF

You can donate to help us with the fire response online. Just add the special instruction "Fire" or "Beauty for Ashes." We al

Additionally, if you would like to support our general church budget, we set aside a percentage of giving all the time to help people in need, and that fund was what enabled us to quickly respond to the need immediately.

Email one of the pastors if you would like to help one of the families we're assisting directly.
